Small but cool. That seems to be motto for the new VW Up! who has come to take over the place ocuppied by the Minis. But the Up! has a big defect: There's only a 3-doors version, which results to be impractical if you have -for example- small children. But that's about to change. Since may will arrive the new version of the Up!. Talking about the extra equipment and motorization, nothing seem to have been changed. The extra 2 doors will cost 475 Euros.

In terms of hybrid drive systems, Toyota, the pioneer in sustainable mobility, has something completely new. Aqua. That’s the concept which Toyota claims will enable extremely fuel efficient driving. The car is said to make to with only one liter of fuel to cover a range between 35 and 40 kilometers. Some time this year it is expected to hit the domestic market, to follow in other countries afterwards then the Aqua to go by the name of Prius C.

The GRNM Sports Hybrid Concept 2 is a hybrid sports coupé, one of the first in the world and which is also expected to make it as a production model. It passed its first tests at the gruelling 24 hour endurance race at the Nurburgring this year.

With V6 and V8 petrol engines that consume up to 20 percent less fuel, Mercedes-Benz is once again raising the measuring standard for efficiency in the E-Class segment. For example the E 350 BlueEFFICIENCY with a V6 engine has a low NEDC consumption of 6.8-7.0 litres of premium petrol per 100 kilometres. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 159-164 g/km. The combined consumption of the new V8 model E 500 BlueEFFICIENCY has fallen by 17 percent to 8.9 l/100 km (209 g/km CO2). All petrol and diesel engines in the E-Class now have direct injection. The leap in efficiency achieved with the BlueDIRECT engines is supported by the ECO start/stop function, which is also standard equipment for the four-cylinder models in future. In addition all automatic versions are equipped with the improved 7G-TRONIC PLUS 7-speed automatic transmission, which likewise contributes to fuel economy.

Basically, the study is already familiar to many, if it were’nt for its plug-in hybrid drive system, which now puts the compact into the E-tron family. The Concept is powered by two engines: a 211 horsepower four cylinder 1.4 TFSI with a turbocharger and direct injection gasoline technology together with an electric powerpack with 27 horsepower.
Fuel economy is reported to be only 2.2 liters per 100 kilometers.
If and whether it will be built at all is still uncertain.

Mercedes celebrates the 125th anniversary of the automobile. With the new SLK, for instance. Racing chief, Norbert Haug, along with Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg and David Coulthardt came by express their congratulations. The third SLK has really matured. A true sports car with a striking nose. The 190 SL from 1955 sends its official greetings.
Three different engines are available right now for the new SLK. The two with superchargers are four cylinders that displace 1.8 liters and generate either 184 or 204 horsepower. The completely newly developed 3.5 liter V6 churns out 306 horsepower.
Besides the standard suspension, Mercedes also offers the option of a stiffer, sportier tuned chassis with electronic spring control.
A start stop automatic is also on board the new Mercedes SLK.
And Mercedes is already taking orders for the new SLK.

Up till now Europe was the main territory ruled by the Ford Focus.
Now the third generation is out to conquer the entire world.
Ford’s latest edition of its hatch heads out as an international car. Ford has already initiated production of the new Focus in Saarlouis, Germany and in Michigan in the States.
At launch Ford is offering the new Focus with a choice of six different engines. Four gasoline versions ranging in output from 105 to 182 horsepower and two diesel variants with either 95 or 163 horsepower. Other engines are scheduled to follow. Among others a particularly economical three cylinder gasoline version. Engineers have made sure that the excellent driving behavior of the former model has been consistently advanced for the new Focus.
Pricing for the new Focus starts at 17,850 Euros.

Model treatment at BMW. The car maker from Munich wants to keep the styling styling of its cars up to date and not let the gap to the new One Series get too big, so it’s time to upgrade both of the two door models, especially in terms of their looks. Still both of the facelifted models will have little in common with the completely new generation of the five-door hatch expected in the fall.

The price list for the coupé starts at 28,400 Euros for the 120i, that’s 200 Euros more than the former model. The lowest-priced diesel, the 118d sells from 27,750 Euros.

Both of the restyled versions celebrate their premiers at the 2011 Detroit Motor Show. Market launch in Germany is then scheduled for March.

Audi is setting its sights on the next Le Mans victory with the new R18 TDI. The hardtop coupé was especially designed for the 24 hours at Le Mans. In 2011 rules call for much smaller engines than before. Audi decided upon a 3.7 liter V6 TDI engine to power the R18, continuing to place its faith in diesel power, with which it was successful for the first time back in 2006.

In purely electric mode the luxury sports achieves a top speed of 150 kilometers per hour.

Customers have the choice between three gasoline and three TDI diesel powered cars with the output ranging from 95 to 156 horsepoer. Pricing for the base version of the new C4 with the little 95 horsepower 1.4 liter gasoline engine is just under 16 thousand Euros. The sedan has been available since November of this year.

The electrically powered trendsetter has been rolling off the production line since November 2009 – and due to the huge demand the initial production volume has been upped from 1000 to 1500 vehicles

The electric engine of this eco city hopper is located in the rear and delivers 30 kilowatts of power. With a cruising range of 135 kilometers per battery charge, you can stroll around the city relaxed and emission free for a couple of days.

The development teams at Audi see the task in its entirety, and examine the complete road traffic system. Their travolution project is a concept for a dialogue between cars and traffic signals. It reduces the amount of time spent at a standstill or accelerating, and in this way cuts the vehicles’ fuel consumption.
The traffic signals transmit data that are processed into graphic form and shown on the car’s driver information display screen. The graphics tell the driver for instance what speed to adopt so that the next traffic light changes to green before the car reaches it. The travolution system also makes it possible to pay online when refueling or parking the car. The car itself communicates with the stationary equipment at the filling station or parking garage. When the driver confirms the charge via the Multi Media Interface MMI, it is automatically debited from the customer’s account or credit card.

Only two hours after BMW Sauber F1 made its presentation, Renault also rolled out its new race cars for the 2010 F1 season at the Circuit de la Communitat in Valencia, Spain. This car, you have to know,is only a show car. Renault claims, the retro paint job, pointing to the origin of the brand is supposed to remain, however. Renault won’t show the real car until the first Grand Prix in Bahrain.
A big surprise came as Renault announced the 25 year-old Russian Vitali Petrov as its second driver alongside Robert Kubica. This makes the first east European duo in formula one history.

At the Los Angeles Autoshow 2009 Volkswagen exudes self-confidence presenting its UP Lite, one of the most spectacular cars at the show.The Up Lite is the fifth member of VW’s family of the future, to be out in showrooms the end of 2011. Volkswagen of America presents a new version of the US top-selling Beetle: the Final Edition, limited to 1500 models. These will be the last cars made after production of the current generation of the iconic car was discontinued only a short while ago.

Pricing for new star from Ingolstadt starts at 72 200 Euros.
